To import or preview the course template, be sure you are logged into Canvas and then go to Canvas Commons: WVC Course Template.

Start with an Empty Course

It is best to import this template into an empty Canvas shell. You can email our Canvas Administrator max.gault@westvalley.edu to request an empty "development shell" if needed.

If you import into a course with existing content, the import will overwrite settings.

How to Import the Template

From your Canvas Dashboard, go to Commons.
Search for "WVC Course Template."
Select the Import/Download button.
Select a course shell destination for the import.
Select Import into Course.
Find that course in your dashboard to see the imported template.

How to Make A Banner for Your Homepage

Sign up for a free account at Canva.com.
In Create a Design (top button), choose "Custom Size" and enter 450 x 50px.
Choose a free design to start with.
Click the text to edit.
You can upload your own picture with Uploads (left) and drag it in.
"Arrange" (near the top) will move layers backward or forward (in case the picture is on top of your text).
Download as .jpeg or .png (not .pdf).
Upload to your course homepage.
